Today one of our reading groups read a story called Dino in the Park.

 They got to choose who they wanted to read a story to.

Week 8 with Hinni Hero

Hinni Hero had a fantastic week!

Have a look at what Hinni Hero got up to with Room's 2 VIP's...

He helped to paint a picture with some puffy paint, he ordered some numbers, played mathletics, made some lego creations and was learning how to correctly form letters with Jolly Phonics.

Hinni Hero is looking forward to adventures in Week 9!

Reading Superstars!

Jennifer and Aiden are super readers!

They have both been working hard on decoding their decoding skills and re-reading and reading on to help solve tricky words.

They like to choose library books to read now!

We are learning to identify numbers

We love playing the fly swat game to help us identify numbers.

 We are put in two different teams and Miss Brown calls out a number. It is a race to swat the number first.
We are getting really good at quickly finding numbers. Some of us can identify numbers up to 100!

Show some kindness

This week our Hinni kid value is kindness/manaakitanga. Mr Mac showed us a video to help us learn about kindness.

We talked about how we show kindness to others and wrote some stories about this.

I show kindness by helping Dad on the farm. By Luca

Te Reo Maori - Feelings

We are learning about feelings in Te Reo Maori and how to say them.
Today we learnt about four words:

• Pai - Good
• Hiakai - Hungry
• Mauiui - Sick
• Pouri - Sad

We matched these feelings to their words. 

Kei te pehea koe? - How are you feeling?

Mathletics winners!

This week Room 2 was the winning class for Mathletics at Hinuera School!

Everyone in Room 2 got their certificates.

Well done to Jennifer, Lachlan, Aiden and Corey who got silver certificates, and Emily for getting her very first mathletics certificate!

Caterpillar Hunt!

As part of our "Creepy Crawlies' topic we are focusing on the life cycle of a butterfly.  

Today we went on a hunt to find caterpillars to observe what we could notice and to look at changes that we will start to see.

Mathletics Superstars!

This week lots of people in Room 2 got their first Mathletics certificate.

We worked very hard to do lots of number activities to get these.

Congratulations to Logan who got over 5000 points!
