Our awesome assembly

Today was our turn to share our amazing learning with our school and our families.

We shared about International Communities which has been one of our topic focuses this term. We shared about Hawaii, which included wonderful writing, our creative art turtles and one of our favourite jump jam songs.

Miss Brown was so proud of how well we did!

I am learning to listen and write the sounds I can hear in my writing. This is my story today - look at all the sounds I could hear!

International Communities Day

Today the whole of Hinuera School went to different classes to learn about other country. It was very special.
We learnt about countries like Japan, India, Kenya, Italy, Egypt, Mexico, Vietnam and the Netherlands.

We did activities like art that helped us learn some similarities and differences.

Scotland Scones

Today we learnt about Scotland and made Scones!
They were yummy scrummy!

 
This is how we made them:
1) We got the ingredients like flour and water and milk.
2) We put the ingredients in a bowl and stirred it up to mix it together.
3) Then we put it on the oven tray and rolled it with a rolling pin
4) Next we put it in the oven to cook.
5) Lastly we ate them! Yum!

  

Zuri's outstanding independent writing!

Zuri wrote an outstanding piece of writing all by herself. 

I have a lamb called Nugget and I like cuddling my lamb. Its wool is as white as snow and it's collar is blue like a crayon.

Mathletics super stars!

This week everyone in our class got their Mathletics certificates.
Aria and Paige have been working so hard! They got their gold certificates. They have 20 certificates all together now! 
What wonderful mathletes! 
Well done Room 2!

The 4 food groups

Today we learned about the 4 different food groups. 
They were:
-Fruit and Vegetables
-Bread and Cereals
-Dairy foods
-Meat 

 

We need to eat at least 5 palm sized servings of fruit and vegetables every day!

 

Healthy Eating - Sugary Drinks

Today we had a visitor that came in to teach us all about drinks.
We we learning about some drinks and how much sugar they have in them.

We learnt that the best drinks to have everyday are water and milk. This is because water has no sugar and milk only has a little bit (2 teaspoons).

Liam's Birthday

Welcome to Room 2, Liam!

We have a new student in Room 2. His name is Liam. Yesterday was Liam's birthday. He had a very happy birthday. Liam got lots of presents and his favourite present was a guitar.

We love having Liam in our class and are looking forward to learning with him this year.

Our Mathletics Certificates

This week everyone in Room 2 got their Mathletics certificates.

We worked very hard all week and we were the only class in the school to have everyone to get their certificate!

We are very proud of ourselves and we are going to keep trying hard every week.
